Monitor Usage

Data and SMS limits

To set a Data Limit, go to the ‘All Subscribers’ tab under ‘Subscriptions’. Be sure to check the SIM(s) in the leftmost column and click the lock icon in the actions bar. Once your SIM reaches the data limit, it will be suspended and will not send or receive data. Your data limit should be expressed in MB and is inclusive of the amount of data in the SIM’s product. For example, if a SIM is on a 2MB bundle and you set a data limit of 3MB, the SIM can use 1 additional MB before it is suspended.

Remember, the default data limit is double the bundle amount. For example, if your SIM is on a 1MB plan, the credit limit is set to 2MB. However, you have the freedom to change this at any time by going to your setting and selecting the option in XYZ location.

If you wish to decrease the data limit of a SIM card that has already hit its limit, the data limit change will immediately update the usage bar on the dashboard, but the limit will only apply from the 1st of the next month. If your SIM has stopped working because it reached its data limit, you can increase the data limit to continue using the SIM. If you want to stop any further usage if the limit has not been hit, change the limit below to below the existing usage. Once your bundle data has been consumed, your SIM will start to incur overuse charges.

You can also set alerts to be notified once your SIM has reached a specified amount of in-bundle or out-bundle/overuse charges.

Your bundle can be upgraded at any time but cannot be downgraded whilst still in contract.

Set Alerts

Alerts help you proactively manage your SIM’s usage. To set usage alerts go to the ‘All Subscribers’ tab under ‘Subscriptions’ and click on the bell icon. You can set up to three alerts for each SIM card.

  • MB used in the bundle: You will be notified when the data usage of a SIM reaches a specified amount (in MB). For example, if you set the notification limit to “8” for a SIM on a 10MB bundle, you will receive an alert when the SIM has used 8MB of data.

  • MB in overuse: You will be notified when the data usage of a SIM exceeds its limit by a specified amount (in MB). For example, if you set the notification limit to “1” for a SIM on a 10MB bundle, you will receive an alert when the SIM has used a total of 11MB.

  • Out-Bundle cost: This option is expressed in currency. For example, if you set the amount to “1” for a SIM on a $3 bundle, you will be notified when the SIM uses $4 of data.

  • In-Bundle % data Usage: This option is expressed in percentage. For example, if you set the amount to “50” for a SIM on a 2MB bundle, you will receive a notification when the SIM uses 1MB.

  • Out-Bundle % data Usage: This option is expressed in percentage. For example, if you set the amount to “50” for a SIM on a 2MB bundle, you will receive a notification when the SIM uses 3MB.

  • Portal Notification: This alert will display as a new notification in your Notification Centre. You can check your notifications by clicking the bell icon in the top right corner of your screen.

  • Send to default email address: Usage notifications will be sent to your default email indicated in your Account Settings. You can change your default email by clicking Settings > Account Details > Default Email > Apply Changes.

  • Send to alternative email address: To send alerts to an email different from your default email, simply type the new email in the “Add an alternative email address” box.

Be sure to click the “Apply Changes” box to save your settings. You will receive alert notifications based on your network CDR intervals and upon session closing.

Remember, setting alerts does not stop your SIM usage, it notifies you. If you would like to automatically suspend your SIMs when they have reached a certain amount of data, you can also set Data Limits to ensure your SIMs stop consuming data at a certain amount.
