Please read this notification carefully as it is important for you to know and understand the change in the workflow when suspending UKJ SIMs.

In order to comply with the network standards and follow best practices when deploying IoT services, UKJs SIMs that move from Active to Suspended status will be blacklisted from the HLR (Home Location Register). This means that SIMs in Suspended status will not be able to register to the network. When the SIM/s has moved to Active status again, they will be enabled in the HLR database.

When deploying your IoT application, please follow the following guidelines to ensure stable connectivity and avoid signalling storms:

  • Suspended status should not be used as a troubleshooting measure.

    • Please use Purge (Clear Location) or send SMS when troubleshooting your devices/connectivity.

  • Before you suspend the SIM, please send a command to the device which will set the unit to sleep mode or switch off the PDP context requests.

    • In a situation where the modem remains active, it may try to reconnect to the data services which may cause congestion on the network that may affect active units across the network.

    • This is also to prevent having FPLMN issues when a modem tries to connect to a network that is not available and writes it to a forbidden network list.

  • Reactivate your SIM/s before you reactivate/deploy your IoT units.

  • In the case that the SIM will never be used again, please send us an email and we can deactivate it definitively.
